Welcome to Alaskan Recipe Cache!
First lets define what a Cache is as an Alaskan would use it.
A cache in Alaska and Northern Canada is a small shed elevated on poles above the reach of animals and used for storing food, and equipment.
We have bears that love easy handouts! This is why the Last Frontier used a system to keep the bears from devouring thier hard earned food and supplies. We still use caches today for storing supplies in remote hunting camps and gold mining operations in bush Alaska.
In Alaska we are blessed with the freshest seafood and sweet berries and many more edible products that grow wild and in an abundance. I hope to share some of my families favorite recipes from salmon to berries and a bountiful vegetables we are able to grow from the long summer sun!
